I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t drawing or painting. Focusing in on a degree in education, I chose art as my major. This inspired and allowed me to formally develop experience in drawing, painting, and sculpture. My love and appreciation for art continued to grow. After graduation, I married, had a family and spent 30 years as a teacher both in a regular classroom and as an art instructor. My focus was on my wonderful family and the students placed in my care.
Upon retirement, I found time again to renew my desire to create, draw, paint, and even do a little photography. My favorite subject matter is nature. My style varies from realistic to semiabstract. Always looking for a challenge; I like to attempt new subject matter, and media. Having lived in New Orleans, La., Ft. Myers, Fl., and Tucker,Ga.; I now call Acworth, Ga. home and enjoy spending some time at our cabin in Murphy,N.C.
Currently a member and exhibiting at the VRAG, Murphy, N.C., Acworth Arts Alliance, the Art House, Acworth, Ga., and Paulding Fine Arts Association at the Historic Courthouse Gallery of Dallas, Ga. I also recently exhibited in Hiawasee, and Rockmart, Ga., and have competed in and won prizes in juried shows. I also enjoy teaching classes at the Living Hope Fine Arts Academy in Kennesaw, Ga.
My desire is to touch others lives by sharing my art, and to encourage the appreciation of God’s amazing world surrounding us.
My favorite quote: “Art is not what you see, but what you make others see” Edgar Degas
