I started taking oil painting lessons when I was in the 5th grade. I think Mom got tired of me drawing on the walls! Art class was my favorite class and all my teachers were great. I got picked to go to an art camp when I was in high school, where I got to try all types of art. After high school I went to Moore College of Art in Philly. I went there for 2 years, majoring in painting and sculpture. Took a few classes at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts.
I moved to Florida where I ended up working for the USPS. I continued with my art, but didn't have a lot of time to devote to it. Finally able to retire, started back with my art. Now I have my art work in the MAC as well as different fairs, flea markets and of course the art walk.
I got started in woodburning about 25 years ago and just love the look of it. I do commissions of anything. Mainly dogs, but I have done people, cats, houses, horses and even a car. I also work with gourds. I like making something that is also useful and attractive.
