I am Barbara McMillan, I currently live and teach in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. After 25 years of owning our own business, my husband and I decided to sell the business in Florida and relocate to North Carolina and take life a little easier.
Before moving to the mountains, I took a class at the John C. Campbell Folks School. The class was a watercolor class for beginners. I quickly realized that I had found a special medium that suited me perfectly. I continued with weekly classes with the teacher at her studio.
Several years later I had the opportunity to teach at a local art studio and have been teaching classes on a weekly basis to students, church groups and one on one individuals. I recently became involved in painting furniture and crafts with chalk mineral paint and found. My second love.
The textures and soft coloring of the paint is truly captivating and beautiful and allows for artistic expressions beyond belief. As I continue to explore the possibilities, I am beginning to believe they are endless. I enjoy the arts and especially sharing my knowledge of “how it is done”.
I teach watercolor in Blairsville at the St. Clare’s Church, and have accepted an offer to teach at the Blue Ridge Art Center. I also teach church and social groups or just a “Girl’s Night Out” class on occasion.
I am a Dixie Belle Chalk Paint retailer and have a booth at Mountain Memories, 7285 U.S. 64 W. in Murphy. I also have a booth at the Pickers Barn in Blairsville.
